Message from the Chairperson

A Shared Commitment to Opportunity, Dignity and Lasting Change

Welcome to St. Bernard Foundation.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our work and the journey we are undertaking to create a more inclusive future for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, Non-Verbal, and Blind or Visually Impaired.

The Foundation was established from a simple but powerful conviction: every child deserves the opportunity to communicate, to learn, to participate fully in society, and to live with dignity and hope. These opportunities should never be determined by circumstance or by barriers that can be removed through understanding, collaboration, and purposeful action.

As we listened to families, educators, professionals, and communities, we became increasingly convinced that sustainable change requires more than goodwill. It requires strong partnerships, informed leadership, evidence-based practice, and institutions that are committed to serving not only today's children but also future generations.

This conviction continues to shape the Foundation's direction.

Our work extends beyond individual programmes. We seek to strengthen families, support schools, build professional capacity, encourage innovation, and contribute to systems that create lasting opportunities for children and the communities around them.

One of our defining strengths is our decision to remain focused. By concentrating our efforts on children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, Non-Verbal, and Blind or Visually Impaired, we are able to develop deeper expertise, stronger partnerships, and practical solutions that can be shared, adapted, and sustained by others. We believe that meaningful change is achieved not by trying to do everything, but by doing the most important things with excellence.

None of this can be achieved by one organization alone. The progress we seek depends upon collaboration between families, schools, government institutions, healthcare professionals, researchers, civil society, development partners, the private sector, and communities themselves.

To all our partners, supporters, volunteers, and friends, thank you for believing in the possibility of a more inclusive future. Your encouragement, expertise, and partnership strengthen our ability to serve with integrity and purpose.

As Chairperson, I am deeply grateful to our Board of Directors, management, staff, volunteers, and every individual who contributes their time, knowledge, and resources to advancing our mission. Together, we are building more than programmes—we are building an institution founded on dignity, inclusion, excellence, and service.

Our aspiration is simple but ambitious: to leave behind stronger systems, stronger communities, and greater opportunities than those we inherited.

We invite you to join us on this journey.

Together, we can help create a future where every child is understood, included, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
